Matt Alexander

Matt Alexander, a third generation Horticulturist/Viticulturist, was born and raised on the land and has over 25 years of agribusiness operations and vineyard management experience.

After working on the family farm Matt spent several years managing large scale mixed horticulture enterprises including fresh citrus, avocados, almonds, dried fruit and wine grapes for a large agribusiness investment group. Matt moved into the corporate sector and spent 8 years with Southcorp Wines as a Vineyard Manager and later Regional Manager. During this period Matt managed a range of vineyard assets across multiple regions including premium vineyards producing fruit for some of Penfolds most iconic brands.

As one of the founding owners of Advanced Viticulture and Management Pty Ltd (AV&M) and as the Managing Director Matt has worked with the AV&M team to develop the business into one of Australia’s leading vineyard management companies.

Philip Slee

Director

Philip Slee has been involved in the wine and horticulture investment and management industries for over 25 years.  Philip has been a director of companies managing large scale investments in the wine, almonds and table grapes.  Philip is a Chartered Accountant, specialising in the wine industry, and agribusiness investment.  Philip has extensive experience dealing with investment and corporate clients. As well as running his own accounting practice, he was also previously Company Secretary of Brian McGuigan Wines Limited and Financial Controller and Company Secretary of Wyndham Estate Wines Limited, both publicly listed companies.

As one of the founding owners of AV&M Philip has worked with the AV&M team to ensure financial and governance systems have been developed and are maintained to the highest standards.

Clark Skinner

Operations Manager/Viticulturist

AV&M’s Operations Manager Clark Skinner, has over 20 years experience as a viticulturist working in commercial agronomy. Initially working for a major rural merchandise store Clark provided comprehensive viticultural/agronomic advice to a large number of both corporate and private growers. Through his actions many of Clarks clients were able to significantly improve vineyard performance. Clark has continued this success within AV&M’s portfolio of vineyards under management and has established an excellent track record of producing high quality fruit to specification utilising efficient and effective vineyard management programs. Clark has extensive project management experience in vineyard development and redevelopment.

As part of the AV&M executive team Clark combines his extensive business experience with practical agronomy skills to maximise asset performance and profitability.

Brett Richardson

Brett Richardson

Viticulturist/Project Manager
B.AppSc.Ag

Born and raised in regional South Australia Brett has always had a close relationship with the land. After completing horticultural studies at Roseworthy Agricultural College Brett began his professional career working on large mixed horticultural properties in Sunraysia.

After gaining experience in technical and management roles working for Southcorp Wines Brett moved into the role the Group Vineyards Manager for the Kirribilly Wine group and oversaw the development and management of 1200 ha of vineyards in South Australia.

Joining Pernod-Ricard in 2006 Brett held a number of senior positions. Most recently Brett was the Technical Manager for Viticulture, based in China from 2010 to 2015. Prior to that Brett was the National Grape Supply Manager and National Vineyards Manager for Pernod Ricard overseeing the production and intake of fruit.

Brett has over 30 years of operational experience in viticulture/horticulture including significant international experience.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Agriculture and has extensive experience in the implementation and management of a number of production, quality and safety systems.

Mark Vannucci

Fleet Operations Manager

Mark Vannucci joined AV&M in 2004 as a Vineyard Leading Hand, quickly progressing to Vineyard Supervisor, Assistant Manager and then Vineyard Manager of a large-scale vineyard located in the Barossa.

Having owned and operated a successful business for over 20 years prior to joining AV&M, Mark has been able to combine his extensive business experience with a detailed knowledge of vineyard operations.

As Fleet Operations Manager, Mark oversees AV&M’s extensive fleet of equipment, including a fully equipped workshop employing multiple maintenance staff.

Working across multiple states and regions Mark has a detailed knowledge of the operational requirements of a large fleet across multiple projects and specialises in maximising operational efficiencies.

Mark holds a Certificate III in Viticulture and Horticulture, and is also a qualified workplace assessor.

Kate Tracy

Technical Viticulturist
B.Sci – Viticulture

Having spent over 8 years living and working in a number of wine regions both in Australia and overseas AV&M’s Technical Viticulturist, Kate Tracy brings a solid list of skills and experience to the team.

From large scale warm and cool climate vineyards to boutique artisan style operations Kate has supplemented her viticultural experience with time spent assisting with winemaking, laboratory and cellar door sales activities.

This broad range of experience serves Kate well in her multi regional role working with AV&M’s diverse vineyard portfolio.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Science (Viticulture) and is currently studying a Masters of Oenology and Viticulture and Charles Sturt University.

Ashley Ratcliff

Ashley Ratcliff

Consulting Viticulturist/Project Manager

After spending a childhood growing up on a sheep and cattle property in the southern area of the Barossa, Ashley found himself carving out a career in an industry that had been in his backyard for generations. Having completed his first University Degree Ashley worked as a viticulturist with Pernod Ricard, and Rosemount Estate before moving to Yalumba. During 14 years of employment with Yalumba, Ashley has managed the 36,000t Oxford Landing Winery and vineyards, directed the bottling/logistics businesses as well as running the sales and marketing division of the Yalumba Nursery. Ashley has experience in many international wine businesses located in France, Italy, Canada and California.

In addition to holding a Masters Degree in Wine Technology & Marketing, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Viticulture, Ashley has been the recipient of several prestigious industry awards.
